We guarantee your reservations for one hour after the scheduled vehicle pickup time, as long as this one-hour grace period is during the location's normal business hours.
You can cancel any reservation up to 12 hours before the scheduled pickup time. After that, you'll be considered a no-show and charged one day's rental for the model you reserved.
If we don't have the car model you reserved available at the location where you pick it up, we'll substitute another model from the same group or a higher one.
When you pick up your rental car from an airport location, we keep track of your flight to ensure your reservation until you arrive if your flight is delayed. That's why we ask you to tell us your airline and flight arrival time when you reserve a car at an airport location.
Fueling up your rental carAfter you rentFueling up your rental car
We deliver the car to you with a full tank of fuel and you can return it any way you like.
If we have to refuel the car, we will charge you for the fuel based on our rate table, which is available for you to examine at our car rental locations.
Letting us refuel the car has these advantages:
- You can pay all the expenses under a single agreement/invoice;
- You can pay in installments, if that's the option you chose for paying for the car rental;
It's easy and saves you time since you don't have to take the car to a service station.
Returning the carAfter you rentReturning the car
In Brazil, you can return your rental car to any of our locations, bearing in mind the following return fees:
R$15.00 for returns to a different location in the same city
R$1.20 per kilometer of distance between the city where you picked up the car and the city where you returned it, plus any toll fees.

For cars picked up and returned at downtown locations, you'll be charged an additional 5% of the total rental agreement amount. For cars picked up and returned at airport or bus station locations, the fee will be 12%.

We offer car rental with an executive chauffeur or a bilingual chauffeur for your convenience and comfort. You can rent a chauffeured car by calling our 24-hour Reservation Center at 0800-979-2000.
Taking care of the carDuring your rentalTaking care of the car

If you go to the beach, avoid letting the car come into contact with sand or saltwater. Not only are these not appropriate environments for driving, but they also damage the car. If you use the vehicle improperly, you can lose the coverage you've taken out.
For your own safety, never transport explosives or loads greater than the car's capacity. You should also never participate in rallies, drag races or competitions – if you do, you'll lose the coverage you've purchased.
We deliver the car to you clean and you must return it the same way. If it's excessively dirty when you return it – beyond normal and reasonable maintenance standards – we'll charge you an additional vehicle cleaning fee under the terms of the rate schedule in effect.
Whenever you go out with the vehicle, make sure you've got the car's documents and your personal documents. If the car's documents or key is lost or stolen, we'll charge you 70% of the amount of three day's rental for the car you rented, based on the normal rental rate, in addition to requiring you to reimburse us for our expenses in getting a second set of documents for the vehicle from the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Additional driver During your rentalAdditional driver
Your rental car can be driven by you or by other people you name, as long as we've authorized them in advance in the car rental agreement.
All additional drivers must meet our basic requirements: they've got to be at least 21 years old and have had their driver's license for at least two years.
We charge a daily fee per additional driver and extend the risk coverage you've taken out in accordance with the rate in effect on the day you open your car rental agreement.
Accident and theftDuring your rentalAccident and theft
Theft of the rental car
If your rental car is stolen, tell us immediately and go to the closest police station to file a police report. You must show us the police report (Boletim de Ocorrência) within a deadline of 48 hours after the event and fill out an Accident Report at one of our locations.
If your rental car is stolen, you must return us the keys and documents. You will also be required to pay for a tank of fuel based on our rate table.
We do not give you a replacement rental car in these cases.
Accidents involving the car
If you're involved in or witness an accident, call 193 from any telephone – you can use a cell phone or a pay phone. You should precisely describe the location of the accident, the vehicles involved and the traffic conditions in the area. Inform us immediately and show us the police report (Boletim de Ocorrência) within a deadline of 48 hours.
We do not give you a replacement rental car if your rental car has been involved in a fire, collision, improper taking, seizure by authorities with jurisdiction, loss, theft of keys or documents or has broken down due to inappropriate use.
If your rental car has broken down due to a mechanical or electrical problem that arises from normal use, we will provide you a replacement rental car for no additional charge.

The minimum requirements to rent a car from Localiza are:
- You must be at least 21 years old;
- You must have had your driver's license for at least two years;
- We must approve your credit.
We can approve you immediately if you have a credit card.
If you are from another country, you must show us your passport when you pick up the car.
Payment methodsBefore you rentPayment methods

Installment payments by credit card
In Brazil, you can pay for your rental car in up to 10 installments with no interest by using an American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club International or Elo credit card issued in Brazil.
Businesses and travel agencies
We offer various payment methods to businesses and travel agencies whose credit we've approved. However, if you prefer, you can also pay with a business credit card with no problem at all.
Traffic tickets and fines.During your rentalTraffic tickets and fines.

For purposes of proof in the event of a traffic ticket, we will place a copy of the driver's license for each driver authorized in the rental agreement in our file.
If a traffic ticket is issued during the time you're renting the car, we will provide the name of the person on the car rental agreement to the police department with jurisdiction and we will pay the fine directly.
We will then charge you the amount of the fine, plus an additional 13% as an administrative fee. We will charge the fine to the credit card you used to pay for the car rental, using the signature on file, or send an invoice
